R.D.C. writes that Brevet-Major W. La T. Congreve was the first officer in the British Army to be awarded the V.C., D.S.O. and M.C., Sgt Gregg was the first other rank to do the same and his awards were the V.C., D.C.M, and M.M.. Major Congreve was killed in action, Sgt Gregg survived WW1 and went on to serve in WW2.
